Yankees vs. Halos

If the Yankees play the Halos during the playoffs, baseball will be in for a treat. Based on the fact that the Yankees cannot beat the Angels in Anaheim.

The Angels pose the biggest threat to the yankees chances of making it back to the World Series. The Angels, in my opinion, are currently the best team in baseball. They play baseball the way it’s meant to be played, i.e., through manufacturing runs.

Mike Scioscia has instilled fundamental standards, reflecting Scioscia’s style of play during his hay day. His players believe they can beat anyone at any time, so long as they play hard and manufacture runs.

We currently live for the long ball, but in California the Angels thrive from playing small ball. The Angels: steal bases at will, place down the bunt efficiently to move the runners, get the sacrifice hit to score the runner from third, and start inings with runners on first and third like it’s nobody’s business.

During a season that has been placated by numerous injuries to key players, the Angels’ farm system has come up big and kept them in the playoff hunt. Kudos to the Angels organization for developing a solid farm system and having top-notch scouts.

To be the best, you have to beat the best. And so, the Yankees must play the Angels.

These Yankees are hungry and ready to start creating a dynasty of their own. If they win a championship this year, you’ll hear of “the house the 2009 yankees built”. That’s priceless!

The Yankees are peaking at the right time and beleive it or not, recently they have been winning games by grinding out hit after hit. Did the Yankees discover their ability to play small ball, while keeping the ability to hit homeruns.

Lately, many of the Yankee players; A-rod included, have been pressing less and just focusing on making contact. The game today against The Whitesox was a clear indication of their new approach when having men on the bases. The Yankees won 10 to 0 and only one of those runs were produce by the long ball. Kudos to Kevin Long, I’m sure he is behind the new approach the Yankees are taking lately at the plate.

It’s easy to point the finger when things are going wrong and at the beginning of the season Kevin long took many jabs from yankee fans about not being a good hitting coach. He’s done a good job of handling a line up that has many Hall of famers in it. Imagine having to instruct Jeter, Texiera, A-Rod, and Matsui. These are all great professional hitters but sound advise and a few mechanical changes goes a long way.

It’s safe to say that the yankees are starting to understand that to beat the Angels, they have to be the Angels in everyway. Emulation is the the best form of flattery, so the Angels should be proud, and if it means being able to beat the Angels; I’ll take it! So bring on the Angels and may the best team win. I would not want it any other way.

Only in New York!!!

Did something change last week? Did the Red Sox’s take over first place? The last time I checked, the New York Yankees were in first place and had the best record in all of baseball. How is it that we boo a team for a loss or boo a player that is helping us get back to the promise land. The Yankees and A-Rod deserve better than this. The 2009 Yankees have shown character and guts this year and have allowed Yankee fans to dream about another parade down the Canyon of Heroes. New Yorkers are known to be a tough crowd, but sometimes we make ourselves look foolish.

We became spoiled when the Yankees were winning Championship after Championship, but in recent years we have discovered how it feels not to win a championship or even make the playoffs. Now we want to boo the Yankees for a single loss. Are we that paranoid? The Yankees are set up not only to win their division, but also to have home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Let’s take the finger off the panic button, and enjoy a season that is going to be a special one. Let’s start backing up our players through the good and bad times. Let’s be the best baseball fans in the world; all over again.

THE KING OF NEW YORK…WORTHY OF MVP AWARD!!!!!

Derek Jeter has been the type of player who every team would love to draft and built their future around. However, many still question whether or not he deserves to be a Hall of Famer, or even an MVP this year. The king of New York has not only delivered clutch hits and memorable plays at shortstop; he has also been the epitomy of what a true Yankee was, is, and should always be: a true professional. Many fans will argue that, Jeter, was fortunate to be born during the right year and fortunate to be a yankee at the right time. Derek, I apologize that your stars were aligned perfectly for you. I guess we should hold that against you. The question that needs to be asked is simple, would the Yankees have won their four most recent Championships without Jeter? Can you imagine not having Derek Jeter on the Yankees and not ever being a witness to all the intangibles that he brings to he game.

The Captain has brought back pride and dedication to a team whose standards are always higher that other major league teams. Please do not think that I am selling short all the other Yankee players that have played with Derek, but it’s safe to say no other Yankee stands out as much as the Captain. He has earned the priviledge of being named the Captain and has lived up to the challenge of playing on the toughest stage in the world…NY.

Derek Jeter might not ever tip the charts in regards to stats and he will never hit 50 home runs in a season but here is something to dwell on;how will yankee fans and MLB adjust when the Captain retires. In an era where many players are taking steriods to get that extra edge…Derek is the last hope to show baseball fans that you can accomplish your goals with hard work.

I guess it’s safe to say that hard work and dedication does pay off. Thank you Captain for being a stand up individual and for being one of the greatest yankees to play the shortstop position. If the rest of the baseball world can not come to grips that Jeter deserve an MVP this year, then shame on you! When it is time for Jeter to leave the game (hopefully not for another 10 years) yankee fans and baseball will definitely miss the Captain.

Yankee fans lets support the Captain and let our voices be heard. When attending games let the baseball world know that Derek Jeter deserves the MVP. When we play on National televison…wear your Jeter jerseys and yell MVP MVP MVP!!! The king of NY deserves nothing less.
